Effective date: October 10, 2026
Last updated: October 10, 2026
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY. They contain:
- a binding arbitration agreement and a waiver of class actions and jury trials (Section 20), which affect how disputes are resolved;
- disclaimers of warranties (Section 16) and limitations of our liability (Section 17);
- your release of claims arising from other users' conduct (Section 13).
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Rutgers RUMobile ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your access to and use of the RUMobile mobile application and any related websites, features, content, and services (together, the "App").
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, by creating an account, or by checking a box or clicking a button indicating your agreement, you confirm that:
- you have read and understood these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Community Rules, all of which are part of these Terms;
- you agree to be bound by them.
If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
1.1 Age. You must be at least 18 years old to use the App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that:
- you are at least 18 years of age;
- you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract.
If you are under 18, you may not download, access, or use the App.
1.2 Other requirements. You also represent and warrant that:
- you are not barred from using the App under applicable law;
- you have not previously been suspended or removed from the App, unless we have expressly permitted you to return;
- all information you provide to us is accurate, current, and complete.
1.3 Misrepresentation. If you misrepresent your age or any other eligibility information, you are solely responsible for all consequences. We may terminate your access immediately and without notice.
2. No affiliation with Rutgers
RUMobile is an independent application. It is not owned, operated, sponsored, endorsed, or approved by Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, or any of its schools, departments, police departments, transportation services, dining services, or affiliates (together, "Rutgers").
- References to Rutgers, its campuses, buildings, courses, routes, or services are for identification and informational purposes only.
- Rutgers is not responsible for the App or for any content in it.
- Any trademarks belong to their respective owners.
3. Changes to these Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice by reasonable means. Examples:
- updating the "Last updated" date;
- notice in the App;
- requiring you to accept the updated Terms before posting.
Changes take effect when posted, unless we say otherwise. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of them. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the App and may delete your account. Changes to Section 20 (Dispute Resolution) do not apply to disputes that arose before the change.
4. Your account
4.1 Creating an account. Some features require an account, for example posting in Rutgers Global or creating a profile. You must provide a valid email address that you control. You must confirm it before using community features.
4.2 Account security. You are responsible for:
- keeping your password and device secure;
- all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not you authorized it.
Notify us immediately at support@ibunno.com of any unauthorized use. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account.
4.3 One person, one account. Accounts are personal. You may not:
- share, sell, transfer, or lend your account;
- create an account for anyone else;
- create multiple accounts to evade enforcement.
4.4 No identity verification. Email confirmation shows only that a person controls an email address. We do not verify the identity, age, enrollment status, background, or intentions of any user, and we make no representation about any user.
5. Informational content; no reliance
The App displays information from third-party and public sources, including:
- class schedules and course information;
- bus routes, arrival predictions, and service alerts;
- dining hall hours, menus, ingredients, allergens, and nutrition information;
- campus information.
This information is provided "as is" for general convenience only. It may be inaccurate, incomplete, delayed, or out of date. In particular:
- Transit: bus arrival times are predictions. Buses may be early, late, rerouted, or cancelled. Do not rely on the App to catch a bus, make an exam, or meet any obligation.
- Dining and allergens: menus, ingredients, allergen, and nutrition information may be wrong or change without notice. If you have a food allergy, dietary restriction, or medical condition, always confirm directly with dining staff before eating. Never rely on the App for allergy or health decisions.
- Academic: class times, locations, and other course information may change. Always confirm with your official university sources. You are solely responsible for your registration, attendance, and academic obligations.
We are not responsible for any missed bus, class, exam, appointment, or deadline, or for any allergic reaction, illness, injury, or other loss arising from your reliance on information in the App.
6. Not for emergencies; safe use
The App is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911 or campus police. If you or someone you know is in crisis or thinking about self-harm, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, U.S.).
Do not use the App while driving, cycling, or crossing streets, or in any situation that requires your full attention. You use the App at your own risk.
7. User content
7.1 Your content. "User Content" means anything you submit, post, or display through the App. This includes messages, profile information, photos, bios, tags, reports, and feedback. You keep any ownership rights you have in your User Content.
7.2 License to us. By submitting User Content, you grant the Company a license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for example, to format or resize), display, distribute, and otherwise use your User Content to operate, provide, moderate, secure, and improve the App. The license is:
- worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, and fully paid;
- sublicensable (to our service providers) and transferable.
The license lasts for as long as your User Content is stored by us, plus any period needed for backups, legal compliance, and enforcement.
7.3 Your responsibility for User Content. You are solely responsible for your User Content and the consequences of posting it. You represent and warrant that:
- you own, or have all necessary rights to, your User Content and to grant the license above;
- your User Content does not violate these Terms, the Community Rules, any law, or any third party's rights, including privacy, publicity, intellectual property, and contract rights.
7.4 Public nature of content. Content posted in community areas is visible to other users and, in some cases, to signed-out visitors. Other users may copy, screenshot, save, and share your User Content outside the App. Deleting your content, or its automatic expiration, does not remove copies made by others. We have no control over, and no responsibility for, those copies.
7.5 Feedback. If you send us ideas, suggestions, or feedback, we may use them for any purpose without obligation or compensation to you.
8. Community Rules and prohibited conduct
You must follow our Community Rules. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. You also agree not to:
- violate any law or regulation, or encourage or help anyone else to do so;
- harass, bully, threaten, intimidate, stalk, defame, or discriminate against anyone;
- post content that is hateful, sexually explicit, obscene, violent, or otherwise objectionable, or that exploits or endangers minors in any way;
- post anyone's personal or private information without their consent (doxxing);
- impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your identity, age, or affiliation;
- post spam, scams, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or unauthorized advertising or solicitation;
- sell, buy, or advertise drugs, weapons, alcohol to minors, counterfeit goods, exam answers, or any illegal goods or services;
- infringe anyone's copyright, trademark, or other rights;
- upload viruses or malicious code, or interfere with or disrupt the App, its servers, or networks;
- access, scrape, crawl, or collect data from the App by automated means, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except where law expressly permits it;
- bypass or attempt to bypass any filter, block, suspension, rate limit, or other protective measure;
- use the App for any commercial purpose without our written permission;
- use the App in any way that could harm the Company, our users, or the public.
9. Moderation and enforcement
9.1 Our rights. We may, but have no obligation to:
- monitor, review, filter, hide, edit, or remove any User Content;
- warn, restrict, suspend, or terminate any account;
for any reason or no reason, with or without notice. This includes conduct we believe violates these Terms or the Community Rules, or may expose us, our users, or others to harm or liability.
9.2 No duty to monitor. We do not pre-screen all content. Automated filters and user reports are imperfect. We are not responsible for any User Content, for any failure to remove or delay in removing content, or for any action taken or not taken in moderation. Moderation decisions are made in our sole discretion and are final, except as described in the Community Rules.
9.3 Reporting and blocking. You can report content and users and block other users in the App. We aim to review reports within 24 hours but do not guarantee any response time or outcome.
9.4 Cooperation with authorities. We may report content or conduct to law enforcement and cooperate with lawful requests, as described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Our intellectual property
The App is owned by the Company and its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. That includes its software, design, text, graphics, logos, illustrations, characters, and other content, but excludes User Content and third-party content. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to download and use the App on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.
11. Third-party services and links
The App may display or link to third-party websites, services, and data. Examples include university websites, transit providers, dining providers, and app stores. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party services, their content, availability, accuracy, or privacy practices. Your use of them is at your own risk and governed by their terms.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect and use information. You are solely responsible for the information you choose to share with other users or the public, in the App or outside it. We are not responsible or liable for any use, misuse, or disclosure of information that you share with others, or that others obtain from content you share.
13. Interactions with other users; release
13.1 You are responsible for your interactions. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users, whether:
- in the App or outside it;
- online or in person.
We do not screen users, verify their statements, or supervise their conduct. Use caution in all interactions. Never share financial information, passwords, or sensitive personal information. Take appropriate safety precautions before meeting anyone in person, for example meeting in a public place and telling a friend.
13.2 Release. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release, forever discharge, and hold harmless the Company and its owners, members, officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, licensors, and service providers (the "Company Parties") from all claims, demands, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses of every kind, known or unknown. This covers anything arising out of or related to:
- any dispute or interaction between you and any other user or third party;
- any User Content;
- any information you share with others.
If you are a California resident, you waive California Civil Code § 1542, which says: "A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party." You also waive any similar law in any other jurisdiction.
14. Suspension, termination, and account deletion
14.1 By you. You may stop using the App at any time and delete your account from within the App.
14.2 By us. We may suspend or terminate your access to all or part of the App at any time, for any reason or no reason, with or without notice, and without liability to you. Reasons include violation of these Terms or the Community Rules.
14.3 Effect. Upon termination:
- your license to use the App ends;
- we may delete your account and content, subject to our Privacy Policy;
- you may not create a new account without our permission.
The following sections survive termination: 5, 6, 7.2 to 7.5, 9.2, 10 to 13, and 15 to 23.
15. Changes and availability
We may change, suspend, or discontinue all or any part of the App at any time, without notice or liability. This includes any feature, content, or data. We do not guarantee that the App will be available, uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that any content or data will be preserved.
16. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE APP AND ALL CONTENT, INFORMATION, AND SERVICES PROVIDED THROUGH IT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. THE COMPANY PARTIES SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND QUIET ENJOYMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, THE COMPANY PARTIES DO NOT WARRANT THAT:
- (A) THE APP WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR BE AVAILABLE, UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE;
- (B) ANY INFORMATION IN THE APP, INCLUDING TRANSIT, DINING, ALLERGEN, NUTRITION, OR ACADEMIC INFORMATION, IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, RELIABLE, OR CURRENT;
- (C) DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED;
- (D) THE APP OR ITS SERVERS ARE FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS;
- (E) ANY USER IS WHO THEY CLAIM TO BE OR WILL BEHAVE APPROPRIATELY.
NO ADVICE OR INFORMATION, ORAL OR WRITTEN, OBTAINED FROM US OR THROUGH THE APP CREATES ANY WARRANTY NOT EXPRESSLY STATED IN THESE TERMS. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
17. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL THE COMPANY PARTIES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITY. This includes damages for personal injury, emotional distress, missed classes, exams, or transportation, or reliance on any information. It applies to damages arising out of or related to:
- (A) your access to, use of, or inability to use the App;
- (B) any conduct or content of any user or third party, including any defamatory, offensive, or illegal conduct;
- (C) any information you share with others, or its use or misuse by anyone;
- (D) any interaction or meeting with any other user;
- (E) unauthorized access to, use of, or alteration of your account, content, or data;
- (F) any content or information obtained from the App;
WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND EVEN IF A COMPANY PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE TOTAL LIABILITY OF THE COMPANY PARTIES FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (I) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US TO USE THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (II) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100).
These limitations:
- apply even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose;
- are an essential basis of the bargain between you and us.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, such as liability for fraud, or for gross negligence or willful misconduct where the law does not allow it to be limited.
18. Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Company Parties from and against all claims, demands, actions, damages, losses, liabilities, judgments, settlements, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees. This covers anything arising out of or related to:
- (a) your access to or use of the App;
- (b) your User Content;
- (c) your violation of these Terms, the Community Rules, or any law;
- (d) your violation of any third party's rights, including privacy, publicity, or intellectual property rights;
- (e) your interactions with any other user or third party;
- (f) any information you share with others.
We may assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification, and you agree to cooperate with our defense. You may not settle any matter without our prior written consent.
19. Copyright complaints
If you believe content in the App infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@ibunno.com with the following:
- (1) your physical or electronic signature;
- (2) identification of the copyrighted work;
- (3) identification of the allegedly infringing material and where it is located in the App;
- (4) your contact information;
- (5) a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- (6) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
We may remove allegedly infringing content and terminate repeat infringers.
20. Dispute resolution: binding arbitration and class action waiver
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT REQUIRES YOU TO RESOLVE DISPUTES WITH US THROUGH BINDING INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION AND LIMITS HOW YOU CAN SEEK RELIEF.
20.1 Informal resolution first. Before starting any arbitration or court proceeding, you agree to try to resolve any dispute informally. Send a written notice to support@ibunno.com describing:
- the dispute;
- the relief sought;
- your contact information.
The parties will try in good faith to resolve the dispute for at least 60 days after the notice is received.
20.2 Agreement to arbitrate. Except as provided in Section 20.5, you and the Company agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms, the App, or your relationship with the Company (a "Dispute") will be resolved exclusively by final and binding arbitration on an individual basis. This includes the scope, validity, or enforceability of this arbitration agreement, which will be decided by the arbitrator. Each party gives up the right to go to court and to have a judge or jury decide the Dispute.
20.3 Arbitration rules. The arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") under its Consumer Arbitration Rules then in effect, as modified by this Section. It will be conducted by a single arbitrator.
- Location: New Jersey, or another mutually agreed location, or by video or documents only, at the claimant's election where the rules permit.
- Fees: paid as provided in the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules.
- Judgment: the arbitrator's award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
- Governing law: the Federal Arbitration Act governs this Section.
20.4 Class action and jury trial waiver. YOU AND THE COMPANY AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.
- The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims.
- The arbitrator may award relief only to the individual party seeking it, and only to the extent necessary to provide relief on that party's individual claim.
YOU AND THE COMPANY WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL. If this class action waiver is found unenforceable as to any claim, that claim will be severed and heard in court, not in arbitration.
20.5 Exceptions. Either party may:
- (a) bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies and remains there;
- (b) seek injunctive or equitable relief in court to protect its intellectual property or to stop unauthorized access to or misuse of the App.
20.6 30-day right to opt out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement. Email support@ibunno.com within 30 days after you first accept these Terms, with the subject "Arbitration Opt-Out" and your name and account email. If you opt out, Section 20 does not apply to you, but the rest of these Terms still do.
20.7 Time limit. To the fullest extent permitted by law, any Dispute must be brought within one (1) year after it arises. Otherwise it is permanently barred.
21. Governing law and venue
These Terms and any Dispute are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and by applicable U.S. federal law.
For any matter not subject to arbitration, you and the Company consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in New Jersey.
22. Apple and Google app store terms
If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, the following also applies:
- (a) The agreement is with us. These Terms are between you and the Company only, not Apple or Google. The Company, not Apple or Google, is solely responsible for the App and its content.
- (b) License scope. Your license to use the App is limited to use on Apple- or Android-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the applicable store's usage rules.
- (c) No maintenance or support. Apple and Google have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
- (d) Warranty failures. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
- (e) Product claims. The Company, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App or your use of it. This includes product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
- (f) Intellectual property claims. If a third party claims the App infringes its intellectual property rights, the Company, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling, and discharging the claim.
- (g) Legal compliance. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- (h) Third-party beneficiaries. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. They may enforce these Terms against you.
23. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Community Rules are the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding the App. They supersede all prior agreements.
- Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce any right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.
- Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign them freely, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. We are not liable for any delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control. Examples include acts of God, outages of third-party services, internet failures, labor disputes, and government action.
- No relationship. No agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship is created by these Terms.
- Notices. We may provide notices to you through the App or to the email address associated with your account. You may provide notices to us at support@ibunno.com.
- Headings. Headings are for convenience only and have no legal effect. "Including" means "including without limitation."
- Electronic agreement. You agree that these Terms may be accepted electronically and that electronic acceptance is as binding as a written signature.
