RUMobile's community features, including Rutgers Global and student profiles, are shared spaces. These Community Rules explain what is and is not allowed. They are part of our Terms of Use. By posting, creating a profile, or otherwise using community features, you agree to follow them.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. Content that breaks these rules will be removed. Accounts that break them can be suspended or permanently banned, sometimes without warning.

1. Be respectful

Treat others the way you would want to be treated. Disagreement is fine; disrespect is not. Criticize ideas, not people.

2. No harassment or bullying

Do not harass, bully, intimidate, threaten, insult, demean, or target anyone. This includes:

  • repeated unwanted messages or attention, or following someone across the App;
  • encouraging others to target or pile on a person;
  • mocking someone's appearance, identity, disability, or circumstances;
  • sharing content intended to humiliate or embarrass someone.

3. No hate speech

Do not attack, demean, or exclude people based on:

  • race, ethnicity, or national origin;
  • religion or caste;
  • sex, gender, gender identity or expression, or sexual orientation;
  • age, disability, or serious illness;
  • veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.

Do not use slurs, hateful symbols, or stereotypes, or promote hate groups.

4. No threats or violence

Do not:

  • threaten, promote, glorify, or incite violence against anyone;
  • post about weapons with intent to intimidate;
  • post content that depicts or celebrates violence, terrorism, or extremism.

If you believe someone is in immediate danger, call 911 or campus police right away.

5. No sexual content or exploitation

Do not post:

  • nudity, pornography, or sexually explicit material or descriptions;
  • sexual solicitation or requests for intimate images;
  • non-consensual intimate content.

Any content that sexualizes or exploits minors is strictly prohibited. It will be removed and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to law enforcement.

6. Self-harm and crisis

Do not encourage, promote, or provide instructions for suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders. If you or someone you know is struggling:

  • call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline);
  • contact your campus counseling services;
  • call 911 in an emergency.

We may remove such content and share crisis resources.

7. Protect your privacy and respect others' privacy

  • Do not share anyone's personal information without their consent ("doxxing"). That includes names linked to accounts, phone numbers, addresses, dorm or room numbers, class schedules, photos, or social media accounts.
  • Do not post private conversations, screenshots, or photos of others without their permission.
  • Protect yourself. Do not post your phone number, address, financial information, passwords, or other sensitive information. Anything you share can be copied and shared by others. RUMobile is not responsible for what others do with information you choose to share.
  • Be cautious about meeting anyone in person. If you do, meet in a public place and tell someone you trust.

8. No spam, scams, or unauthorized selling

Do not post:

  • spam, repetitive messages, chain messages, or excessive self-promotion;
  • scams, phishing, "get rich quick" schemes, fake giveaways, or requests for money or gift cards;
  • advertisements or commercial solicitation without our permission;
  • links to malware or deceptive websites.

9. No illegal or dangerous activity

Do not use the App to buy, sell, trade, or promote:

  • illegal drugs or controlled substances;
  • weapons or explosives;
  • alcohol or tobacco to people who are underage;
  • stolen or counterfeit goods;
  • fake IDs;
  • any other illegal goods, services, or activity.

10. Academic integrity

Do not offer, request, buy, or sell exam answers, completed assignments, or other materials that facilitate academic dishonesty. Do not impersonate others for coursework. Follow your institution's academic integrity policies.

11. Be honest and authentic

  • Do not impersonate any person, organization, student group, university office, or RUMobile staff or moderators.
  • Do not misrepresent your identity, age, or affiliation.
  • Do not create multiple accounts to mislead others or evade enforcement.
  • Do not knowingly spread false information that could cause harm, such as false emergency alerts or false accusations against a real person.

12. Respect intellectual property

Only post content you created or have permission to share. Do not post copyrighted material, such as course materials, textbooks, music, videos, or images, without permission.

13. Keep it relevant and usable

Do not flood Rutgers Global with off-topic, repetitive, or disruptive content. Do not try to get around filters, blocks, or suspensions, for example by misspelling banned words or creating new accounts.

14. Your profile

Everything in your profile must follow these rules. That includes your display name, photo, bio, tags, and a gender you describe in your own words. Do not use a profile photo of someone else, or one that is sexual, violent, hateful, or otherwise objectionable.

Reporting and blocking

  • Report content or users that break these rules. Long-press a message, or use the menu on a profile. Reports are confidential: the person you report is not told who reported them.
  • Block anyone you do not want to interact with. Once blocked, you and that person will not see each other's messages.
  • We aim to review reports within 24 hours. We do not guarantee any particular timing or outcome.
  • Do not abuse reporting. False or bad-faith reports are themselves a violation of these rules.

Enforcement

Our moderators and automated systems may review content, especially content that has been reported. Depending on the seriousness of the violation and your history, we may:

  • hide content pending review, or hold content that triggers our filters;
  • remove content;
  • warn you;
  • suspend your account temporarily, during which you can still use non-community features;
  • permanently ban your account;
  • report content or conduct to law enforcement or the appropriate authorities.

Several reports from different users may cause content to be hidden automatically until a moderator reviews it. Serious violations may result in immediate permanent removal without warning. These include threats, sexual content involving minors, doxxing, and illegal activity.

We make enforcement decisions in our sole discretion. We are not obligated to remove any particular content. Not acting on a violation does not mean we approve of it.

Appeals

If you believe a moderation decision was a mistake, email support@ibunno.com within 30 days. Include your account email and, if suspended, the case number shown in the App. We will review appeals in good faith, but our decision on appeal is final.

Changes

We may update these Community Rules at any time. If we make material changes, we may ask you to review and accept them again before posting.
